Django site helps busy families get on the same (web) page

A startup family organization, Activity Tree allows parents to find and register their kids for activities offered by providers who have listed with the site. This helps parents manage the busy schedules of their kids – a timesaver that lets them optimize their family time by staying on the same virtual page.

Activity Tree came with a basic sitemap and business strategy, which we used to develop their digital strategy. We did information architecture, strategic alignment of business needs with application requirements, user research, and iterative visual design for a site that speaks to two audiences: families using the service, and activity providers that would become clients. Deliverables included sitemap, wireframes, design comps, and the launched website.

Our developers used Django for the available commerce plug-ins, allowing athletic clubs, parks and sports leagues to post new events – and give parents a one-stop shop to find, check availability, schedule, arrange carpooling and track everything. Activity Tree makes finding activities simple by consolidating registration into one online payment.

At, families can also communicate with other parents about their kids’ activities – and grandparents can keep a calendar (synched to Outlook and other online calendars) or get alerts so they don’t miss the big game.

While Activity Tree is targeted at a specific vertical market, it could easily be leveraged into other personal life activities to bring people together.
