Chicago Gateway Green’s website wins 2012 Chicago Nerdery Overnight Website Challenge

Chicago, November 18, 2012 – After 24 hours and arguably too much coffee, bragging rights were awarded to Silverline Creative, the team of web pros whose nerdy deeds reimagined and rebuilt the website of Chicago Gateway Green, one of 12 nonprofits paired for 24 hours (in a row) with a dedicated team of volunteers at the 2012 Chicago Nerdery Overnight Website Challenge.

Rounding out the competitive final four:
 Honorable-honorable mention:

Eligible nonprofits (501c3-registered organizations in IL) applied by articulating their vision of how nerds could further their mission through better use of interactive technology. Volunteer teams self-organized with 8-10 web pros covering these skill sets: front-end development; back-end development; project management; strategy; UX; graphic design; copywriting; QA.

This was The Nerdery’s seventh Web Challenge overall, and second in Chicago after 10 teams and nonprofits hooked up in 2011. “Competition to get in this time was tougher yet; 18 teams applied and 61 nonprofits lined up for a shot at pro bono services; teams and nonprofits truly earned their place here,” said Nerdery CEO Mike Derheim. “Whether you’re on the giving end or the receiving end of this grand bargain, thanks for being a part of The 2012 Chicago Nerdery Overnight Website Challenge.”

The Nerdery Foundation also thanks these sponsors of the 2012 Chicago Nerdery Overnight Website Challenge: Depaul College of Computing and Digital Media; Instant Technology; Peace Coffee.

The Nerdery Foundation
The Nerdery established The Nerdery Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, to advance philanthropic initiatives like The Nerdery Overnight Website Challenge, at which developers from The Nerdery and throughout the Chicago and Minneapolis interactive communities have donated about $3 million in professional services to 98 Illinois-and-Minnesota-based nonprofits.
